Weekly Happiness Note December 4, 2025
Let Go of What’s Holding You Back
“The path forward gets clearer when we see what’s slowing us down.”
Happy Thursday,
Most of us make life harder than it needs to be. The turning point is noticing what’s weighing us down. This week’s note shares three simple practices to help you steady your day, feel better, and reset when you need it.
This week’s topic and inspiration come from the article: “Is It Time to Get Out of Your Own Way?”
💛 Remember the Good
Anchor the Day
Life passes quickly, and one day often flows into the next. Anchoring your day with gratitude in the morning and releasing the events of the day at night helps you stay on your path of least resistance. These simple rituals create space to notice what you’re grateful for, let go of lingering tension, and stay connected to the meaning in your day. This is how we get out of our own way before resistance has a chance to build.
Tip to remember the good: Reflection exercise: What moment of gratitude can you hold onto right now?
Reflect deeper: Let that moment remind you that each day is a blank canvas. Gratitude helps you recognize the good and moves you toward smoother seas.
🌿 Feel Your Best
Let Pleasure In
When we have one foot on the gas pedal and the other on the brake, we miss the pleasures woven into our day. Letting pleasure in is about opening yourself to the small moments that bring joy or fun. Many of us are experts at doing and amateurs at being, but pleasure helps us return to being. When we allow ourselves to enjoy what’s already here, we stop pushing against life and give ourselves space to feel our best.
Tip to feel your best: Reflection exercise: What small pleasure can you allow yourself to enjoy today?
Reflect deeper: Let yourself linger in that moment. Even brief enjoyment can shift your momentum.
🔄 Reset as Needed
Hit the Reset Button Often
Each day brings new opportunities and challenges. Some days we move with the flow of life, and other days we find ourselves under a dark cloud. Hitting the reset button helps us avoid the trap of perfection and stay gentle with ourselves. Every emotion passes eventually, and every moment offers the chance to start again — whether that reset looks like laughter, a pause, or a series of steps to soften the day's intensity.
Tip to reset: Reflection exercise: Where do you feel called to reset today?
Reflect deeper: Let your reset be honest and straightforward. There is no right or wrong way to begin again. Share your reset here if it feels supportive, or keep it just for you.
This Week’s Quote:
Grateful Jake
A homework assignment on gratitude leaves Jake completely stumped. After all, he’s just an ordinary 8-year-old boy – what’s so great about that? But a weekend of adventures opens his eyes to the true meaning of gratitude, and just how lucky he is that it’s always within his reach.
This engagingly illustrated picture book will help introduce your young readers to the concept of gratitude, and the accompanying Grateful Jake Resource Guide will help you expand on those ideas with activities your whole family will enjoy.
