Happy Thursday and New Year, too!
I hope the holiday season was good to you and you have some energy left in the tank to start the new year with excitement for what’s to come. If not, what do you need to do to reset or recharge to help you feel your best? Sometimes, asking that question and allowing a pause is all that’s required for your wisdom to surface with a solution.
This year, I plan to have some fun being creative with the format of these weekly notes. I welcome any feedback and suggestions on what would be most helpful and valuable for you to receive on Thursdays. My intention is to create (through words, images, and sometimes video) a weekly offering that shares a little hope and light with some actionable tips. I want you to receive real value or, at the very least, a little boost from opening the notes. The tagline has always been: “Remember the good, feel your best, and reset as needed,” So, it dawned on me that it might be helpful to use these headings as the framework to share. Let’s see how it goes! I hope the rest of your week and weekend goes well.
This week’s topic and inspiration comes from the article: The Power of Focusing on What You Do Want in Life.
Remember the Good
It’s easy to get caught up in what’s wrong in life, but it’s empowering to ask yourself,” What do I really want/need right now?” When we shift our focus to what’s going well or what we hope to invite into our lives, we begin to uncover the lightness, joy, and connection already available to us.
Tip for remembering the good: Take a moment to notice three things you’re grateful for right now—small or big. Gratitude has a magical way of amplifying the good that’s already present and opening us to even more.
Feel Your Best
Our words and thoughts shape how we experience life. What if, for just one day, you refrained from complaining or judging yourself? Instead, try speaking with kindness and optimism. Notice how this slight shift transforms your interactions and energy.
Tip to feel your best: The next time you feel a funk creeping in, focus on the powerful, positive language that reflects the life you want to live. Words are contagious—make them uplifting for yourself and others.
Reset As Needed
When life feels overwhelming, remember this: change doesn’t have to come in leaps. A single step in the direction of what you want can begin to shift your path.
Tip for a reset: Ask yourself, “What’s one small action I can take right now?” Each step forward builds momentum; before you know it, you’re creating a brighter, more joyful reality. If you feel derailed, reset and refocus on what matters most—your happiness and the journey ahead.
Planning for Next Week📝:
Use the framework below to plan your upcoming week: January 6th - January 12th. Some people like to map out their forthcoming week on Friday to ease into the weekend, knowing they are ready to hit the road running on Monday. Others (like myself) have a Sunday planning ritual. Do what works best for you. Over the years, in supporting many people in their planning and goal-setting, it seems to work best to pick a day of the week that’s easy to stick to so that your weekly planning becomes a habit and ritual.
What are your wins? Before you organize the upcoming week, “January 6th - January 12th”, reflect on the week you are wrapping up. What are your wins (big or small)? What is something you are grateful for? What have you learned about yourself this week? Record your reflections in your journal or the Notes section of the Planner Printout. Feel free to comment below (others in this community will also be able to see your comment) or hit reply to this note and share directly with me.
